Off-grid living, sustainable farming, handmade art, and peaceful retreats in the Arizona desert.
Book a TourWe’re building our dream—an Earthship oasis fueled by the sun, powered by community, and rooted in sustainable living. Join us on our journey of off-grid innovation and conscious living in the Arizona desert.
Built in 1999 by Robert Schafer and members of the Wittmann community, Earthship Journey stands as the largest Earthship in Arizona. With deep roots and generous hearts, neighbors donated recycled materials — including the tires that form our walls — making this Earthship a living symbol of sustainability and community.
3-story Earthship built by Robert Schafer. Largest in Arizona. Designed by Michael Reynolds.
Off-grid energy system with zero monthly power bills. Powered by the sun.
Rainwater catchment system across three tanks with greywater use in place.
Desert sanctuary featuring gardens, animals, and event spaces for tours and community.
Constructed with the help of neighbors who donated time, tires, and tools.
We don’t have a well yet, but plan to add one as we grow.
